The horror genre failed to exist due to the large religious society, all ideas of "evil" were

forbidden. The horror genre first arose in 1818 in a print format, a novel called
Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley. This was when horror was first introduced in which a malevolent human creation related to a monster commits mass genocide. From this point onwards the horror genre became more and more popular as later on the introduction of Dracula and vampires occurred. Mary Shelley gave other authors the confidence to begin to write horror novels. People began to enjoy the genre as it gave them something they couldnt get from everyday life. From this, sub genres arose. For example it began with monsters and vampires, in the contemporary market there is anything from paranormal acitivity to zombies to out breaks of mutating viruses. Horror is often linked to Science Fiction and Thriller.
